Tales From the Edge of America Part 1 New York to Montana eBook Paul Smith

What’s at the centre of North America? Did pterodactyls once terrorise the Wild West? Why was an atomic bomb dropped on a family in South Carolina? And where can you tuck into a testicle festival?
Paul Smith embarks on journey where rest and relaxation is the only option; a train journey across the United States to see his family. But curiosity gets the better of Paul, and he decides to keep going. And going.
Tales From the Edge of America is a unique adventure along coasts and borders to the four corners of mainland USA from the Atlantic to the Pacific, from Canada to Mexico, Paul explores several of the world’s greatest cities – and finds himself in plenty more you’ve never heard of.
He encounters the Abominable Snowman in Maine, glugs illegal moonshine in Charleston, walks the lost neighbourhoods of New Orleans and finds himself alone in the New Mexico desert. He befriends the characters who prefer the unburdened commute by Amtrak train over the brevity of air travel, all of whom have their own tales to tell.
10,000 miles, 31 states, no turning back – Tales From the Edge of America is a unique pilgrimage around the USA that never sits still.
Tales From the Edge of America is exclusive to and published in two halves. Part 2 will be available in July 2013.
Tales From the Edge of America Part 1 New York to Montana eBook Paul Smith
Tales from the Edge of America is novel because it is told from a British eye. The author traverses the width of the country's northern border via train and bus, commenting as he travels. His commentary on food is amusing: he's from Britain, remember...when was the last time you heard someone rave about British food? While it was not my favorite book, it contained many of the same words. Easy read, some of the Britishisms may confuse you. Amusing.Product details

Tales From the Edge of America Part 1 New York to Montana eBook Paul Smith Reviews
Tales From the Edge of America, Part 1 New York to Montana is an absolute joy to read.
As someone who enjoys the tourist-y places of the United States, I was keen to read about the smaller places, the places with real stories and people with tales to tell of all sorts of insane events in their history.
Paul writes the book with a lot of heart, but cannot help but show the humour in things which are put in front of him. He goes in search of Pterodactals, smuggles washing powder over the border and even finds out about the Testicle Festival at the heart of America. It's an easy read, with tonnes of facts about things which never tire or become boring. I even Googled a few things myself, for example the statue of Bobby Orr, just to see what Paul was describing.
It's a genuine read which I am sure many people will love.
Can't wait for the next part to see where the journey goes...
A fun adventure around the US visiting some well-known and not-so well-known American towns and cities. A great read, very honest and works as a travel guide too. Remind me never to go for a drink in Mystic! Look forward to part 2.
It's quite interesting to read about some of the smaller and more unusual places in the US through the eyes of someone who doesn't live here. Paul is absolutely sincere and shares his insights in a fun, friendly way. Reading this is like having a conversation with someone who is genuinely interested in and excited about exploring off the beaten path. Looking forward to part two!
Fantastic way to learn more about the country. Paul puts it into perspective just how vastly different the way of life is from state to state. The chapters vary from funny, heart warming, tear jerking, nerve racking, intriguing and often rather awkward! Some great knowledge and factual info in here too which i loved hearing all about. Highly recommended and very much looking forward to part 2.
